Gender-Based Violence(GBV)

Ending Gender-Based Violence: IPAO’s Commitment to Change
Gender-Based Violence (GBV) remains a pervasive human rights crisis, especially in Bangladesh, where women, girls, and marginalized groups face alarming rates of violence. At the International Peace Ambassadors Organization (IPAO), we are dedicated to combating GBV through prevention, survivor support, and advocacy, aligning with SDG 5: Gender Equality.

The GBV Crisis in Bangladesh

  • Violence Against Women: 72.6% of married women have faced violence from their husbands (BBS, 2020).
  • Child Marriage: 51% of girls marry before 18, one of the highest rates globally.
  • Sexual Harassment: 84% of women experience harassment in public spaces.
How IPAO Fights GBV

Prevention Through Awareness

  • Community Education: We challenge harmful gender norms with campaigns to change attitudes.
  • School Programs: We teach youth about respect and equality to prevent violence early.
  • Engaging Men and Boys: We promote positive masculinities to drive cultural change.
Supporting Survivors

  • Counseling: Trauma-informed mental health support for healing.
  • Legal Aid: Guidance to navigate the justice system and seek protection.
  • Safe Spaces: Shelters offering immediate safety and care.
Empowering Survivors

  • Livelihood Support: Vocational training for financial independence.
  • Leadership Development: Turning survivors into advocates for change.
Advocacy for Change

  • Policy Reform: We push for stronger laws and enforcement to protect women and girls.
  • Research: We gather data to inform evidence-based solutions.
A Future Free from Violence

IPAO envisions a world where GBV is eradicated. By addressing root causes, supporting survivors, and advocating for systemic change, we’re building safer, equitable communities. Join us in the fight for a violence-free future.
