Rohingya Refugees

Since 2017, hundreds of thousands of Rohingya refugees have sought safety in Bangladesh after escaping persecution and violence in Myanmar. In the sprawling camps of Cox’s Bazar, life remains uncertain for over a million displaced people — half of them children.

The Illiteracy and Poverty Alleviation Assistance Organization (IPAO) is dedicated to restoring dignity and opportunity for Rohingya refugees through education, nutrition, skills development, and empowerment programs. Our initiatives ensure that no child, youth, or woman is left behind.

Our Mission in the Camps

IPAO’s humanitarian mission in the Rohingya camps focuses on education, food security, skills empowerment, and inclusive community development. We work hand-in-hand with local partners, camp leaders, and humanitarian agencies to deliver sustainable solutions for learning, nourishment, and hope.

Key Interventions

Education and Learning Opportunities

Education is the foundation of a better tomorrow. IPAO provides inclusive and safe learning opportunities for children and youth:

10,000 children will receive basic education for one year starting January 2026.

4,200 adolescents and young adults will access digital learning, handicrafts, programming, freelancing, solar, and electrical training.

Trained Rohingya teachers and assistants lead classes to promote child-friendly, gender-sensitive, and accessible education for all.

Food Security and Nutrition

No family should go hungry. IPAO’s food initiatives provide nourishment and dignity to thousands:

6,200 family food boxes and 15,000 school tiffin boxes distributed last month.

Upcoming 75,000 food baskets distribution beginning February 2026, prioritizing vulnerable households and school children.

These initiatives help reduce hunger and promote better attendance and concentration in learning spaces.

Skills Development and Empowerment

Building resilience begins with empowerment. IPAO’s training programs equip youth and women with the tools to build independent futures:

Hands-on training in digital literacy, handicrafts, solar technology, tailoring, and electrical maintenance.

Special focus on girls’ participation and women’s leadership in technical and entrepreneurial skills.

Future-ready opportunities through freelancing and digital entrepreneurship.

Camp Operations and Community Support

To manage effective service delivery, IPAO operates five field offices inside the camps.

These centers serve as vital coordination and logistics hubs for:

Salary disbursement to teachers and staff.

Storage and distribution of tiffin boxes, school materials, and equipment.

Community engagement with Rohingya leaders and guardians to ensure inclusive and transparent programming.

Our Commitment

At IPAO, we believe that education, empowerment, and compassion can transform the lives of displaced communities. Our work in the camps is driven by a deep respect for human dignity and a shared vision of peace and progress.

Together with our partners and supporters, we continue to stand for humanity — for every child’s right to learn, every woman’s right to thrive, and every family’s right to live with dignity.
